Event Description

“On the special occasion of our tenth anniversary of the Refugee Ball, we invite you to join us at the stunning Hyatt Regency Hotel, Sydney, for an unforgettable evening of fine dining, fundraising, networking, dancing and an energetic mix of world-class music and cultural performance, as we come together to help heal refugee trauma and promote respect for human rights.

With a line up of dynamic guest speakers, the evening will feature a special performance by 4-time ARIA award-winning and world leading Oud virtuoso and composer, Joseph Tawadros AM and live music by triple ARIA award-winning gypsy fusion group, Monsieur Camembert and the Mesopotamian Ensemble Duo and more!

This year, we are thrilled to announce Nyadol Nyuon as our distinguished keynote speaker for this year’s Refugee Ball. Nyadol is a commercial litigator with Arnold Bloch Leibler and a community advocate. She was born in a refugee camp in Itang, Ethiopia, and raised in Kakuma Refugee camp, Kenya. In both 2011 and 2014, Nyadol was nominated as one of the hundred most influential African Australians.

The money raised at the annual Refugee Ball helps fund some of the most vital and innovative projects that support people from refugee backgrounds in NSW.  This year all funds raised will go towards the rights based global campaign: ‘Support Life After Torture’’.”
