Joseph Tawadros is a copt Egyptian-born Australian leading Oud virtuoso, composer and 3 time ARIA award winner. Joseph was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia in 2016. His most recent album held the top rank in iTunes for World Music and he has played all over the world, from the Sydney Opera House to the Academy of Ancient Music in London.
The evening will be divided between a concert and a dialogue. Joseph will be speaking on his experience of the Oud, and more specifically “Why the Oud is not an ethnic instrument”. Following that, the dialogue will be opened to the public, with a broader theme being “Music as a means for the conveying of an Ethnic/Cultural story”. Link to Facebook event page
