Event Description
Music of the Oud
Joseph Tawadros with the Sydney Symphony
In a concert to break boundaries, Joseph Tawadros will enchant you with his music, storytelling and his virtuosity on the oud, the Egyptian lute. Expect joyous music from the crossroads of east and west.
Three performances:
Thursday 20 June 2019 6.30pm
Friday 21 June 2019, 7pm
Saturday 22 June 2019, 7pm
Joseph Tawadros is one of Australian music’s most impressive and charismatic figures: a composer, improviser, storyteller and a brilliant exponent of the oud, the Egyptian lute. Classically trained on this king of Middle Eastern instruments, Tawadros’s virtuoso technique and curiosity have brought him into contact with the worlds of jazz, classical and world traditions to create music that transcends labels and shatters borders.
Classical and original music from the crossroads of East and West, and of old and new, is woven around Tawadros’s Oud Concerto.
